Inflows Defy Bitcoin ETF Outflows

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs reportedly shed $282.6 million on September 10, their third straight session of net outflows. Over the same three-day window, XRP ETFs pulled in fresh capital for a third consecutive day, even as XRP itself slipped roughly 2.8% to trade near $1.36.

The split is the story here. Bitcoin ETF investors are heading for the exits while XRP fund buyers keep adding exposure to a falling token price, and the tension worth unpacking: does XRP’s steadier inflow pattern reflect a genuinely different holder base, or is it just a quieter version of the same volatility rattling Bitcoin ETF flows this month?

Why Don’t ETF Flows and Token Price Always Move Together?

Crypto ETF flows measure creations and redemptions inside the fund wrapper itself – money entering or leaving the product, not a direct swap between assets. A fund can absorb net inflows on a day its underlying token drops, because buyers are adding shares faster than sellers are cashing out, regardless of where the price is heading.

Inflows continued even as XRP fell roughly 2.8% on September 10. It is a reminder that fund demand and spot price action are related but separate signals, and treating one as a stand-in for the other is a common – and costly – mistake for traders watching XRP ETF inflows for directional cues.

What Do the Reported ETF Numbers Actually Show?

Across the three-session stretch through September 10, Bitcoin funds handed back a combined $449.4 million. Total net assets in Bitcoin ETFs fell to $97.49 billion, down from $101.3 billion on September 4, though cumulative net inflows since launch still stand at $55.17 billion.

The pattern looks erratic rather than uniformly bearish. The same Bitcoin funds absorbed $730.9 million on September 3, the strongest single-day haul since January 14, 2026, before reversing hard into the September 10 outflow.

XRP’s record over a longer 20-session window tells a different story. The funds recorded just one outflow day in that span – a $7.2 million exit on September 2 – while collecting $190.5 million overall.

Bitcoin logged seven negative days across that same period, Ethereum posted three, and Solana logged four, making XRP the clear outlier in consistency among the larger crypto ETF flows tracked by SoSoValue.

Cumulative XRP ETF inflows have reached $1.70 billion since launch, with combined net assets of $1.45 billion.

The pressure on September 10 wasn’t confined to Bitcoin. Ethereum products shed $29.8 million and Solana funds lost $482,547, according to the same report. Smaller products moved the other way: Chainlink ETFs added $4.3 million, and Polkadot funds took in $663,057 – its first daily inflow since June 8.
