2 August 2025 was an essential deadline beneath the EU AI Act: obligations for suppliers of general-purpose AI (GPAI) fashions entered into power, offered the mannequin is positioned available on the market on or after this date.
The European Fee and EU AI Workplace have been gearing up for this deadline with lately launched Pointers for suppliers of general-purpose AI fashions (the Pointers) and a ultimate Common-Goal AI Code of Apply (the Code). The Code was topic to the Fee and the AI Board assessing its adequacy. The Fee confirmed the Code’s formal approval on 1 August.
The Pointers present an interpretative framework for understanding the obligations of suppliers of general-purpose AI fashions, and the Code presents particular measures advised by the Fee that suppliers can implement to display that they meet these obligations.
